A SHORT HISTORY OF WILD RICE
Called Manomin by the Indians, Wild Rice, a truly American food, was originally harvested in the Great Lakes region of the United States and Canada by the Ojibwa, Chippewa, and Sioux, who relied on it as a staple in their diet.
Actually an aquatic grass, it was likened to rice by the first French voyageurs, and thus became known as Wild Rice. |

BAY WREATHS & GARLANDS - From the hills around the farm, leaves are harvested from the bay trees and gathered into fragrant green wreaths... a year-long supply of culinary bay leaves.
To ensure the freshness of our bay leaf products, we only ship them only when they are fresh... typically between November and January.

As
you might be aware, McFadden Farm is also a Certified Organic vineyard;
that’s what I started when I came here to Potter Valley in 1970.
Over the years we’ve grown and sold our grapes to many prestigious
wineries in Napa, Sonoma and Mendocino Counties, and they‘ve been
widely appreciated.
It was natural to begin my own brand. Check out our selection of wines
in our new online
wine store!

| At
McFadden Farm, all our garlic braids, bay leaf wreaths and certified
organic cooking herbs are grown and crafted right here in quiet, pastoral
Potter Valley, California.
Each
product reflects the unique qualities of our farm environment with
an emphasis on flavor, beauty and caring for the land.
